post-doc offer in nano-materials for optical quantum technologies at Chimie ParisTech - Université PSL in Paris, France

The group "Crystals and Quantum State Dynamics" (www.cqsd.fr) at IRCP-Chimie ParisTech-PSL University is internationally recognized for developing bulk and nanoscale rare earth doped crystals for applications in quantum technologies.
Applications are invited for a one-year post-doctoral researcher position in the area of high resolution and coherent spectroscopy of rare earth doped materials. The main aim of the project is to develop a low-temperature microscopy setup for measuring the optical linewidth of rare earth ions down to single nanoparticles and sub-wavelength thin films. It will build up on our recent results on europium doped particles measured as ensembles (D. Serrano et al., arXiv:1711.03934, J. G. Bartholomew et al., Nano Letters 2017). The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a team of other post-doctoral researchers and students as well as permanent staff.
This position is part of a European Union FET OPEN project, NanOQTech (Nanoscale Systems for Optical Quantum Technologies, www.nanoqtech.eu), which includes 9 academic and industrial partners across Europe. The network is devoted to establishing the potential of rare earth doped nanomaterials in quantum information technologies.
The candidates should hold a PhD in optics or solid-state physics and have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research. Candidates should have experience of optical spectroscopy and/or rare earth doped materials, coupled with a proven ability to write and publish high quality papers. Very good skills in English are also required.
Please send applications including a brief statement of interest, a Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications and conference contributions, and the names and contact details of two referees to Dr. Philippe Goldner (philippe.goldner@chimie-paristech.fr) and Dr. Diana Serrano (diana.serrano@chimie-paristech.fr).
